is provided in your specific
internet package. (See Also #15 Fair
Usage Policy) Excessive bandwidth usage may
be charged to your account at a rate of
$20.00 for every extra 20 GB you use. More
information on Bandwidth Usage is available
here.

BOOTP servers to the network.
14. Users are not allowed to serve files in
any way via Mascon Cable Systems unless a
separate agreement is signed or the file
sharing program has been configured in such
a way that it will not hinder overall
network congestion.
15. Mascon's Fair Usage Policy is designed
to make sure your broadband service is quick
and reliable whenever you use it. Like any
other Internet service provider, we manage
our network for many reasons including
growing, upgrading and optimizing the
network; removing spam, viruses and
malicious content; DOS attacks; and managing
network traffic congestion when it occurs.
While congestion is not the normal state of
any network, when it happens, just like
being stuck in a traffic jam on the highway,
it can be frustrating. So, Mascon actively
manages congestion to minimize the impact of
temporary broadband traffic jams.
How does Mascon’s Fair Usage Policy work?
If a certain area of the network nears a
state of congestion, our Network Management
Software will automatically ensure that all
customers have a fair share of access to the
network. It will identify which customer
accounts are using the greatest amounts of
bandwidth at that time, and their Internet
traffic will be temporarily managed until
the period of congestion passes. Un-managed
customers will still be able to do anything
they want to online, and most activities
will be unaffected, but managed customers
could experience things like; longer times
to download or upload files, surfing the Web
may seem slower or playing games online may
seem somewhat sluggish.
The Network Management Software does not
manage congestion based on the online
activities, protocols or applications a
customer uses, rather it only focuses on the
heaviest users in real time, so the periods
of congestion could be very fleeting and
sporadic.
It is important to note that the effect of
our Network Management Software is temporary
and it has nothing to do with aggregate
monthly data usage. Rather, it is dynamic
and based on prevailing network conditions
as well as very recent data usage.
Very few customers will ever be impacted.
Our data has shown that on average less than
1% of our customers would ever be impacted
by our fair usage policy. In fact, the
Network Management Software will actually
help ensure that all customers get their
fair share of bandwidth.
To protect our customers and our network
from malicious broadcasts, virus
propagation, denial of service attacks,
zombie computers and unauthorized servers,
Mascon limits the total number of
connections per user to 60. By keeping your
computer up to date, running current anti
virus and anti spyware software as well as
using properly configured P2P software, the
majority of customers should never be
affected.
